Abstract :
The aims of this study were to find out the problems hinder English study program learners in speaking English at one public university in Jambi. The design of this research is quantitative method with survey approach, and the subject of this research is the 6th semester students of English Department Jambi University. The data of this research were collected by using questionnaire consists of items regarding to the problem faced by the students in speaking English, and the data were analyzed by using SPSS program version 16. Based on the finding, it shows that the most of the students are having linguistic problem more than psychological problem in speaking English. The finding shows that psychological factors yielded mean score 2.37 which is categorized as low level, the linguisticfactors yielded mean score 2.60 which is categorized as high level. The implication of this research is that the student should mastered the linguistic components of English and being taught continually in order to improve their English speaking skill.
