Abstract :
The objective of the research is to identify kind of the rewards that the teacher used and to know about in what occasion the teacher gave rewards to the students in learning English.Related to the objective of the research, the research used qualitative research design. In collecting the data, the research used observation and interview. The researcher used data reduction and data display for analyzing of data. The object this research is class B at Taman BacaanMasyarakat Asoka 2that consists of one teacher and twelve until fifteen students. Then the findings of the research, the researcher found some kinds of positive rewards such as praise, score, applause, candy, thumbs up and chocolate. Then, the researcher found negative rewards like word and sentence (threatening and warning), Inconvenient punishment. Positive reward awarded because the student has shown success for his efforts. The students? response gotpositive rewards in teaching English are the students more enthusiastic, fun, happy and exciting, students are more motivated, and students are more diligent and have more spirit to study English. The teacher gave positive rewards when the students gave true answer from the questions that the teacher gave to the students. Then, the teacher gave negative rewards when the students were noisy and also tried to disturb their friend to answer the question from the teacher. Then, the teacher gave negative rewards when the students used bad pronounciation when spell a English word.
