Abstract :
This research aims to analyze the writing ability of students in the eighth grade procedure text at SMPN 1 Poso. This type of research is qualitative research. The research subject is eighth graders at SMPN 1 Poso 2018/2019 Academic Year consists of 30 students. The instruments used in this study are test, and interview.
Based on the results of the study, students' ability in writing procedure texts is in fair category. That is evidenced by their average score in the text of the writing procedure which only reaches 67. Thus It can be concluded that the average score students get fair category in writing procedure texts because students have difficulty in writing. This is because they lack of understand how to compose sentences, use grammar, and also write mechanics.
