Abstract :
This study aims to explore students perceptions about the strategies of lecturer in teaching reading at Sintuwu Maroso University. The research subjects are sixty students in academic year 2018/2019: thirty one students from semester V and twenty nine students fromsemester VII. This type of research is quantitative with a survey design. Data are obtained from questionnaire and analyzed using teacher strategy theory in teaching reading by Tierney and Readence (2005). This study indicates that the lecturer has applied explicit reading techniques in reading comprehension in teaching Reading 1, 2, and 3. Furthermore, all features in explicit teaching techniques appeare in teaching Reading 1, 2, and 3.
