Abstract :
This research aimed to describe the YouTube usage as a media to learn English, and to find out students' responses about YouTube usage in the classroom. This research was conducted at class X MIPA A of SMA Negeri 1 Poso. The subject of this research is class X MIPA A students. The number of the students is 32. This research used descriptive qualitative research and used field notes and questionnaire as instruments to collect data. The result shows that there are four stages of using YouTube in the classroom. They are teacher preparation, phase 1, phase 2, and phase 3. In teacher preparation, the teacher needs to find any resources on YouTube, opens YouTube account, and subscribes to channels related to the learning. Then, the teacher needs to define the goal of learning, such as learning certain aspects about the target language culture and skills that they need to practice. Hereinafter, the teacher rehearses the English skills of the students and then discusses about the videos. Related to students' responses, most of the students argued that YouTube make them easier to leam English, understand English better, focus to learn English, make them feel excited to learn English, and help them to get the meaning and purpose of the study; along said that YouTube is an affordable and accessible media.
