Abstract :
The aims of this research is to analyze teacher's speech act during the learning process taking place in class X of SMA Negeri 2 Poso. This research uses descriptive qualitative as a design research and uses the theory of speech act from Searle (1979). The subject of this research is an English teacher at SMA Negeri 2 Poso. The data are collected from field note and recording instrument.
The result of this research findings shows that from 34 of teacher's
utterances there are four types of speech act, there are: Directive speech act as
many as it utterances, Assertive speech act as many as 6 utterances, Expressive
speech act as many as 4 utterances, and Declarative speech act as many as 3
utterances.
