Abstract :
This study aims to determine the impact of social media on the academic performances of students at English language education study program. The type of research use in this study is quantitative type, with social media as the independent variable and students' academic performance as the dependent variable. This research is conducted at the Faculty of teacher training and English language Education of University Sintuwu Maroso in Poso regency which conducts in May until June 2019. The subjects of this study are 40 English students who are taken randomly from 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th semester of Academic Year of 2018/2019. Based on the results of research obtained from questionnaire data, the analysis technique uses a prerequisite test with simple linear regression. The results show that the impact of social media on students' academic performance has a significant value of 0.019 which is smaller than the significance level of 0.05. the Ha hypothesis is accepted and HO hypothesis is rejected. Hence, it can be concluded that social media give impact to the students' academic performance.
