Abstract :
Acid mine drainage is one of the factors that can damage the environment, especially groundwater. The research area is Air Batu and its surroundings, Talang Kelapa District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatera Province. This study aims to test the quality of groundwater affected by acid mine drainage based on the distance between the groundwater wells and acid mine drainage. The distance is divided into the sample close from acid mine drainage (0 ? 300 meters), the sample far enough from acid mine drainage (300 ? 750 meters), and the sample very far from acid mine drainage (Jabbari, Jaya, & Sugiyanta, 2018). The research method uses a descriptive approach with a combination of quantitative and qualitative data. This method consists of a preliminary stage, data collection stage, and completion stage. Groundwater quality uses the calculation of water quality index (WQI) for each parameter tested according to standard provisions of Permenkes No. 492/Menkes/IV/2010. The WQI divided into several categories, namely Water Class I Very Good (<50), Water Class II Good (50.1 - 100), Water Class III Bad (100.1 - 200), Water Class IV Very Bad (200.1 - 300), and Water Class V Unfit for Drinking (>300) (Ramakrishnalah, C. R., 2009). Parameter tested were colour, odour, taste, turbidity, temperature, pH, TDS, Fe, water hardness, and manganese. The results showed wells with very good status consist of SM2, SM4, SM6, and SM10, wells with good status namely SM2, and SM5 with non-drinking status.
