Abstract :
Gout is an arthritis disease that occurs due to increased levels of uric acid in the blood (hyperuricemia), causing the deposition of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals in the joints. Rational drug use in gout patients can affect the success of therapy. This study aims to determine the correlation between the rationality of drug use and clinical outcomes in gout patients at RSI Siti Khadijah Palembang from January 2020 ? December 2022. This research is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional and cohort study design. Data were obtained retrospectively using the total sampling method with a full sample of 32 patients. The results of rationality drug use obtained the right diagnosis 100%, right indication 100%, right patient of urate lowering therapy 100% and analgetic antiinflammatory 93,55%, right drug 100%, right dose of urate lowering therapy 90,625% and analgetic antiinflammatory 100%, right route of administration 100%, right time of administration 100%, and alert for side effects 100%. The results of fisher?s exact test showed that there was a significant correlation between the rationality of urate lowering therapy and analgetic antiinflammatory on clinical outcomes in the form of achieving normal levels of uric acid (p<0,05) and reducing pain levels in gout patients (p<0,05). Rational use of drugs is effective for achieving clinical outcomes.
