Abstract :
PT Remco Kota Palembang is one of the crumb rubber industries located in Palembang which produces SIR 20 crumb rubber. The process of making crumb rubber at the factory uses a dryer to dry the rubber. The activity of drying rubber using a dryer will produce an unpleasant odor originating from Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) compounds which pose a risk to workers health. The purpose of this study was to determine the environmental health risk analysis of H2S exposure in workers at PT Remco's dryer unit, Palembang City. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive study using the Environmental Health Risk Analysis (ARKL) method with a deterministic approach using the Central Tendency Expsoure (CTE) value. The number of samples in this study consisted of 30 workers with a total sampling technique. The results of this study are the H2S gas concentration value in the dryer unit of 0.036 mg/m3, the air adjusted concentration value of 0.00936 mg/m3, and the risk value of 3.72 (RQ > 1). The conclusion of this study is the H2S exposure towards workers in the dryer section has a risk of health problems in the respiratory system. Risk management that can be implemented is implementing the use of deorub and filters, implementing a work shift system and encouraging the use of a medical mask covered with wet cloth while working, conducting socialization, and measuring H2S gas in the dryer unit on a regular basis.
