Abstract :
The use of papaya leaf extract to prevent the attack of Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria in catfish, in the treatment of adding papaya leaf extract concentration of 10% in commercial feed and given for 14 days has been proven to be able to reduce the attack of Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria and maintain survival percentage by up to 100%. The aim of this research was to know how to long extract papaya leaf can protect Aeromonas hydrophila infection Clarias sp. The research was conducted on April-Mei 2019 in Laboratorium Kolam Percobaan Budidaya Perairan, Fisheries Department, Aquaculture Study Program, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University and hematocrite examination was conducted in UPT Klinik Universitas Sriwijaya. The research based on Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The fish was injected by Aeromonas hydrophila with density of 106 CFU.mL-1. The Clarias sp. has been reared for 40 days and fed with added papaya leaf extract at a dose of 10% for 14 days, with the frequency of feeding three times a day, the fish were injected after being given of papaya leaf extract on the 6th day, 11th day, and 16th day. The parameters observed on this research were prevalence, leucocytes, hematocrite, survival, growth and water quality. The results showed that papaya leaf extract were added to the feed effect on the prevalence, survival and growth of catfish. The conclusion from this study is that 10% papaya leaf extract for 14 days in commercial feed can still protect catfish from Aeromonas hydrophila infection up to 16 days after papaya leaf extract, indicated by the prevalence value of 17.78%, total leukocytes 199.17x103 cells. mm-3, and hematocrit levels 27.07%. Produces 100% survival, 0.94 cm long growth, 6.00 gram weight growth, and 48.17% feed efficiency. Key words: Aeromonas hydrophila, Catfish., Carica papaya L.
