Abstract :
Light Steel construction material is one that is being developed in the world.
This construction material is widely used in roof truss construction. This material can
be an economic solution based on the material's strength compared to the relatively
cheap price. In addition to material advantage with low prices, light Steel material has
also a light weight. Light Steel has a very thin profile section that may cause a lot of
failures that can occur in the material. Error often occurs in installation process that
leads to eccentricity in connection. This study is conducted to analyze the effect of
the eccentricity that occur in roof truss system.
This study uses the results of laboratory testing. In laboratory tests a model of
eccentric structures that used will be loaded by three-point loading used to get the
ultimate load which can be resisted by each of the model structures. the compression
test will be performed where the loading will be placed at three joints on the top side
of structure. Structural models with span 6 m and 2,106 m height, will give the value
of ultimate loading can be resisted by the structures. This result of this study will be
compared with the centric model structure that has been tested before. This result of
the comparison will be compared with the analysis based on Computer program.
This study showed that the eccentricity in the joint influence the strength of
roof truss structure. Centric roof truss structure is 16,506% stronger compared to the
eccentric structure. No joint failure occurs in this test. The structure failed due to
local buckling caused by compression.
