Abstract :
Electrical energy, is something that has become a necessity for the community, where this need is increasing every year. This is a result of the increasing population so that the need for electrical energy itself also increases. Seeing this, it is necessary to innovate renewable energy that is effective and efficient so that it can be converted into electrical energy in the long term so that it can continue to meet the demand for electrical energy. One source of renewable energy is from the sun's rays which produce heat energy. By using a solar power plant (PLTS), the energy from the sun's heat can be converted into electrical energy. Departing from this, the authors conducted research on the solar panels themselves to be able to optimize the performance of the solar panels themselves, namely by cooling the solar panels to be at optimal temperatures using passive cooling made from Aluminum Composite Panel, which is a mixture of aluminum and non-aluminum such as poly ethylene. This passive cooler will be examined the effect of the thickness of the plate on the output power of the solar panel. And after carrying out measurements and calculations, the result is that a solar panel with a 4 mm cooling plate can produce greater voltage and current values compared to a solar panel with a 3 mm cooling plate. It is also caused by the temperature generated by the solar panel with a 4 mm cooling plate which is lower than the solar panel with a 3 mm cooling plate. The end result is that the output power generated will be much greater than that of a solar panel with a 4 mm cooling plate compared to a solar panel with a 3 mm cooling plate.
