Abstract :
Hormonal system disorders cause low levels of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in the blood which leads to delayed ovulation. Delayed ovulation is a condition where ovulation does not occur on time. This can lead to untimely mating/IB, so fertilization does not occur and the cow fails to become pregnant. The main cause of delayed ovulation is low blood LH levels. The symptoms seen in this case are the length of estrus between 24-84 hours and repeated mating. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between LH concentration in Simmental crossbreed cows diagnosed with delayed ovulation. The samples used were 3 (three) Simmental crossbreed cows diagnosed with delayed ovulation cases owned by farmers in East OKU district. The intensity of estrus was observed during estrus until the end of estrus by looking at follicular development with ultrasonography. LH concentration was analyzed by ELISA during estrus. The results showed that LH levels in Simmental crossbreed cows starting from day 1 before estrus to day 7 after the first estrus (day 0) were consecutively: 3.97; 4.07; 4.2; 4.76; 4.4; 4.3; 4.2; 4.07 and 4.0 mIU/ml. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that simmental crossbreed cows in this study were diagnosed with delayed ovulation, causing estrus duration for 3 days by showing LH levels of 4.2; 4.76; and 4.4 mIU/ml, respectively. Low levels of LH in the estrus phase cause cattle to experience delayed ovulation.
