Abstract :
LED grow lights can be used as a substitute for sunlight in hydroponic systems in low-light rooms.. This study aims to examine the effect of 2 × 4 watt LED grow light on the production of lettuce plants (Lactuca sativa. L.) with a hydroponic system. This research was conducted from 19 January 2023 to 22 February 2023 at the Laboratory of Biosystems, Agricultural Energy and Drafting, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Indralaya Campus, Sriwijaya University and Permata Indralaya Hidroponics. The method used in this research is an experimental method consisting of main and supporting parameters, the main parameters consist of plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), leaf width (cm), fresh weight of plants (g), electrical energy (kWh), power requirements (watts). Supporting parameters consisted of light intensity (lux), temperature (°C), humidity (% RH), pH measurement, TDS (ppm) and EC (µS/cm). The productivity of lettuce plants in treatments A and B using 2 × 4 watt LED grow light irradiation for 16 hours and 20 hours was obtained at 12.69 tons/ha and 6.98 tons/ha. Control plants using sunlight irradiation were obtained at 17.82 tons/ha. The electrical energy used in treatments A and B using LED grow light 2 × 4 watts with a duration of irradiation for 16 hours and 20 hours amounted to 4.21 kWh and 5.27 kWh and a fan for 21 hours amounted to 1.65 kWh. Keywords: Electric Energy, Hydroponics, Duration of irradiation, LED grow light, Lettuce.
