Abstract :
Sexual violence is a serious problem facing the world as well as in Indonesia. Exposure to sexual violence profoundly affects brain structure and results in lifelong impairments in cognitive and emotional capacities, in addition to high-risk behavior and antisocial behavior. This study aims to determine the effect of health education about Sexual Violence on the knowledge of Sriwijaya University students. With a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design and probability sampling method with a stratified random sampling approach, this study used a quasi-experimental research design. The population in this study are all students from the 2019-2022 class on the Sriwijaya University campus. The sample size was 222 people consisting of 111 people as the audiovisual group, 111 people as the leaflet group. The data collection method was carried out by giving questionnaires through the stages of pretest, treatment and posttest. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon signed ranked test because the data were not normally distributed and the Mann Whitney u test. The results of the study using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranked test (p<0.05) were obtained before and after the audiovisual (p=0.000) and leaflet (p=0.000) treatment. The results of statistical analysis using the Mann Whitney u test showed that the difference in the results of the post-test data on the level of knowledge in the audiovisual and leaflet groups was 0.000, which means that p <0,05. There is a difference between the audiovisual media group and the leaflet media group. It was concluded that the provision of health education using audiovisual media and leaflets had an effect on increasing students' knowledge about sexual violence. Therefore, health workers especially nurses can maximize the provision of health education as a preventive measure in reducing the risk factors for sexual violence.
