Abstract :
JOKO IMAM FERDIANTO. Rice Business Development Strategy For Peat Land To Optimize Agricultural Land In Mulyaguna Village Teluk Gelam District Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. (Supervised by ELLY ROSANA). The aims of this study were (1) to describe the characteristics of peatland rice farmers in Mulyaguna Village, (2) to analyze internal factors and external factors in peatland rice farming in Mulyaguna Village, (3) to identify strategies in developing peatland rice farming in Mulyaguna Village. This research was conducted in Mulyaguna Village, Teluk Gelam District, Ogan Komering Ilir District. The research location was chosen based on the consideration that Mulyaguna Village was one of the villages in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency which received assistance to print peatland rice fields in 2016. The sampling technique used Simple Random Sampling and a sample of 32 farmers was obtained. The results showed that most of the respondents were aged 46-54 years and were dominated by male farmers, had more education levels than junior high school graduates, the largest number of family dependents was 2-4 people, the average cultivated land area was 0.5 Ha and the length of farming was more than 5-6 years. Factors that influence the development of farming are internal factors which include: Availability of farmer groups, land conditions that support cultivation, farmer capital is still weak, agricultural facilities and infrastructure are incomplete, availability of human resources, difficulty level of peatland farming, utilization of production factors is not maximized, and water management does not yet exist. External factors include: good seed varieties, market demand is quite large, not yet using modern technology, no policies related to follow-up programs, lack of extension agents, ignorance of selling price information, OPT disturbances, and no assistance from the government. The strategy that will be implemented for the development of peatland rice farming occupies quadrant I with the SO (Strength-Opportunities) strategy where farmers can utilize all their strengths to seize opportunities to develop farming. Keywords: paddy field printing, peatland, development strategy, swot, rice farming
