Abstract :
The study of sediment distribution based on sediment grain size at Komering Hulu River aims to obtain teh types of grain size of sediment in the Komering Hulu River. Determination of base sediment collection location using purpusive sampling method. Sampling in the form of basic sediment (bed load) was conducted at 3 (three) locations with 9 observation points on the Komering Ulu River. Processing and data analysis is done in the Laboratory of the Departement of Energy and Mineral Resources of South Sumatera Province and Geophysics Laboratory of teh Departement of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Sriwijaya University. The method used using multilevel sifter method. The results of this research indicated that the greatest current velocity lies in the left 4 lovation after an the dam of 0,6 m/s, while the smallest current velocity lies at location 1 A before the dam of 0,024 m/s. The basic sediments that dominate the Komering Hulu River are sand, muddy sand, mud, and sandy mud. Current velocity affects the distribution of sediment distribution, where larger sedimentary granules are found in areas with higher current velocities and fine sediments deposited on weakly flanked areas.
