Abstract :
In general, a system can run well, one of the conditions is the existence of adequate information management facilities. The world of education also requires good information management. Management of information on employees, students, facilities, laboratories, etc. can work well if the information management system is adequate. There are so many benefits felt if there is an adequate information system, including data retrieval, can be done easily, data management becomes more efficient, there is no duplication of data and so on. If there is no adequate information system, then things like that will be difficult to do. Although information systems are needed by educational institutions, not all educational institutions have them, one of them is the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Sriwijaya University (UNSRI). This research was conducted to develop a facility information system for the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UNSRI which can be further developed. The research methodology used in this study was started from planning by collecting data on facilities and infrastructure in engineering faculty buildings, especially in mechanical engineering. Further database and website creation were made. After the Database was developed, the process of converting the database into a web-based using Joomla Software CMS was carried out and tested, whether it was in accordance with the needs. This information system of facilities and infrastructure is developed based on the web so that it can be accessed online by anyone who needs information about the Department of Mechanical Engineering UNSRI. In this initial stage, a newly developed system includes data on facilities and infrastructure. This developed system, although not yet perfect and still needs improvement, can already be used to assist student practicum activities.
