Abstract :
Increasing demand on land for agriculture has caused land use change to occur, which eventually contribute significantly to the increases in CO2 emission. Current study was conducted to estimate carbon (C) stock and carbondioxide (CO2) emission as related to land use change in Ogan Komering Ilir District,
South Sumatera. Landsat 5 TM, 7 SLC, and 8 OLI were analyzed using Lumens 0.1.0 version. The results showed that all land use types change significanlly. The highest decreases (136,960 ha) were observed on the secondary swamp forest. While the highest increases (147,456 ha) occurred in the planted forest, with total
C stock of 17,276,422.2 ton C. On the other hand, dry land agriculture emitted as much as 3,827,457.6 tonnes of CO2.
