Abstract :
This research was conducted in Experimental Field of Faculty of Agriculture, SriwijayaUniversity and the Laboratory of Phytopathology, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Theobjective of the research was to study the effects of zingiberaceous plant extract on the disease caused by Bipolaris maydis. The experiment was conducted from October 2016 to March 2017. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design, with 4 treatments and 6 replications. The results showed that the highest average of disease percentage was found in maize plants without application of zingiberaceous plant extract /control (E0), equal to 25.88%. The lowest average of disease percentage was found in maize plant applied with Javanese ginger extract (E3) withaverage disease percentage equal to 5.94%. The highest disease intensity was found in maize plant applied with ginger extract (E1) with average disease intensity equal to 31.11%, while the lowest disease intensity was found in maize plant applied with Javanese ginger, equal to 4.33%. The highest maize yield was found in maize plant applied with ginger extract equal to 135.00 g, and the lowest was found in maize plant without plant extract application, equal to 121,67 g. The best plant growth was found on maize plant applied with galangal extract, equal to 164.61 cm, and the lowest growth was found in maize plant applied with Javanese ginger with plant height equal to 153.05 cm.In conclusion, Javanese ginger extract (E3) could affect I better than other zingiberaceous plant extracts.
