Abstract :
Peatlands have extraordinary biodiversity. Communities living around peatlands use biodiversity as a source of livelihood. The people of Pedamaran Lima Village were one of those who use peatlands as a source of livelihood. This research aims to: (1) Describe the characteristics of peat communities in Pedamaran Lima, Pedamaran Districts, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. (2) Analyze the survival strategies of the people of Pedamaran Lima, Pedamaran Districts, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. (3) Analyzing the relationship between community characteristics and the survival strategies of the people of Pedamaran Lima, Pedamaran Districts, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. This research was conducted in July 2023 in Pedamaran Lima Village, Pedamaran District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. The results of this research were: (1) Characteristics of the community in Pedamaran Lima Village, the majority are aged 50 - 59 years, have primary school education, have more than one job and have 3 - 5 dependents. (2) Survival strategies have an average score of 24.39, active strategies have an average score of 9.75, passive strategies have an average score of 7.78 and network strategies have an average score of 6.86. (3) There is no relationship between community characteristics and survival strategies. However, there is a relationship between community characteristics and survival strategy indicators, namely job characteristics with active strategies and passive strategies.
