Abstract :
Surface roughness a product that have occurred from a machining process can
determine the quality of being a final process. Stainless steel is hardened alloy
steel often developed as material industry. The use of a cutting tool for high
speed steel constitutes one of the references to know whether the effect to the
process of modeling hard turning. Therefore researchers intend to develop the
result of steady uses the 2k factorials design. Motede done by experiment 8
sempel variable main cutting speed, and feed rate. In this study focused to predict
at the level surface roughness of material stainless steel 304 with 2 variation
parameter the use of a machine lathe conventional BD-1336T. Then the data
mixed with a method of analysis of variance (ANOVA). This report is written
with the experimental methods. Variation parameter used to have the length of
any parameter. After get data from testing done analysis using a method of
response surface that can determine the relation between variables the process
enters freely and data out ( of variable the process ). The results of testing this
shows the impact of surface roughness stainless steel 304 is the effect of A
namely value cutting speed (-1). This are defined that the increase cutting speed
so surface roughness produced the smooth (2.42?m). The effects of factors AB
shows the (-0.61) are defined that if factors AB namely cutting speed and feed
rate combined who good affect on surface roughness indicated by percent
contribution 24 %. The more significant parameter that affects roughness
(smooth) is the speed cut into with indicated percent contribution 66 % , while
feed rate if added 0.05 mm/r to 0.1 mm/rev so surface roughness would increase
as a result as indicated by following percent contribution 7 %. Based on the data
response surface predictable in some way that the combination of cutting speed
and feed rate affect roughness that is indicated percent contribution 24 % .The
condition of optimal of the cutting speed and feed rate by the experiment was
done by the value of the cutting speed 47.1m/min with a value of feed rate
0.1mm/rev with the results of the value of each against roughness of surface is
Ra 2.42 ?m. On experiment is produced linear regression the one develop in a
experiment, to determine the value range condition conducted by optimum
position experiments .While linear regression models are not could be referred
to estimate of surface roughness on stainless steel 304 with high speed steel out
of parameter that dependent on the level.
