Abstract :
Composite material is a combination of two more by having properties which are not the same as the properties of the original material, both metallic and nonmetallic, so the fusion of the material to form a new material that has special properties. Fiber is one of fibers natural fibers in composite formation scientifically. Fiber fibers are widely used in the industries of households in the form of handicrafts, for example for brooms, brushes, ropes, and a water filter. Given the direct utilization of palm fiber very little, it is necessary to use fiber innovations such as the manufacture of composite natural fibers. Development fibers as fiber composite materials is very understandable considering the availability of raw materials are quite abundant. This study aims to analyze the nature of the mechanical and physical properties of the fiber composite fibers with polyester matrix. Mechanical properties and physical properties observed were tensile strength, tensile strain, modulus of elasticity, and impact energy. These properties can be obtained from tensile testing and impact testing. Specimens initially made by soaking the fiber using NaOH solution with a concentration of 7% for 0 hours, 2 hours, 4 hours, and 6 hours. The optimum results obtained from this research that the tensile stress of 6.14 N/mm2, tensile strain of 6.4%, the modulus of elasticity of 0.95 N/mm2, and the impact energy value of 0.0895 J/mm2 obtained from fiber immersion for 4 hours.
