Abstract :
The objective of the research was to determine of sediment in lowland swamp using plots and without plot. The study was conducted from March to June 2016 in Pelabuhan Dalam Village, Pemulutan District and sediment samples were analyzed at the Laboratory of Biosystems and Agricultural Product Technology Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya, Indralaya. The method used in this research was descriptive using direct observation in the field by observing the potential of the sediment and sediment trapped in lowland swamp using plots and without plot. Determination of sample points were taken by drawing diagonal line at one meter from the corner of plot. The experiments were repeated three times. The observed parameters were water level, the bulk density and sediment thickness. Result showed that the maximum puddle at lowland without plot is 61 cm higher than that of lowland using plots of 41.5 cm. Average bulk density in the lowland was 1.3 g /cm3 . Sedimentation in lowland swamp using plots area had sediment thickness of 0.0347 cm/day thicker than that of lowland swamp without plot area with magnitude of 0.0296 cm/day.
