Abstract :
The aim of this research was to gain information about land suitability limiting factors for maize crop, to solve limiting factors, and to compare limiting factors between B and C overflow types in tidal land for maize. This research was conducted in September 2018 ? February 2019 at villager?s farm of Bangun Sari and Mulya Sari, Tanjung Lago, Banyuasin. The analysis of soil physical and chemical properties were carried out at physic and conservation laboratory, Soil Department, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University. Survey method and direct observation to the field were used as the research method and the determination of point samples was used grid method. Twelve point samples were carried out from maize farm in villages, six in Bangun Sari and another six in Mulya Sari, and also the measurement of Soil water surface and channel water surface in both villages. The result showed soil physical properties for soil texture in mulya sari loam was dominant, meanwhile in Bangun Sari loamy clay was dominant, and for best corn growth loam and loamy clay was the best for corn growth. For chemical properties value of pH, N-total, K2O, CEC, P2O5 dan C-organic in Mulya Sari was better than Bangun Sari, for fluctuation of channel water surface, Mulya Sari had a lot of water it?s until 100 cm for highest value meanwhile Bangun Sari about 80 cm only for highest value. For soil water surface Mulya Sari also relative had a lot of water that was -30 cm for highest value and for Bangun Sari was -28 cm only for highest value, maize production in Augustus ? November for Bangun Sari was high with 7,3 ton /ha meanwhile for Mulya Sari only 5,1 ton/ ha, this caused by the water fluctuation in Mulya Sari was high, and impacted maize growth wasn?t optimal because good chemical properties weren?t unsure the high production.
