Abstract :
The phenomenon of burning land on the lately gained enough attention from of all levels, including academic community. Land fires could be expected to change the quality of the soil on th burnt land, but this information considered insufficient then need to conduct research on differences in soil quality. The aim of this research is to look at the differences in soil quality on the land after burned by using a scoring Soil Quality Index (SQI) through some of the character of physical, chemical, and biological soil. This research uses method purposive sampling survey. The taking of soil sampling using a plot that is placed on land with size 20x20 m, on that plot, there are three plots were installed diagonally with the size 1x1 m, respectively subplot was taken soil samples for about 1 kg with two depths are 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm then from one plot soil sample was composite in order to obtain two soil samples with different depths in a single plot. From this research was gained 6 soil samples according to the old pasca burn and are not burn as controls. The results of field data and laboratory analysis showed that the physical characteristic of the soil there is a difference between burnt land and not burned is on the color and structure of the soil, chemical characteristic of soil on the after burn land for elements of K2O and P2O5 has decreased if compare to the land that is not burned. K2O decreased by 0,21 me/100g, on the layers 0-20 cm and the 20-40 cm decreased by 0,09 me/100g to land burned one year, the land after burned two months in the layer 0-20 cm decreased 0,10 me/100g and the 20-40 cm decreased 0,09 me/100g. P2O5 decreased the 0-20 cm of 14,7 ppm and to the 20-40 cm of 59,7 ppm to land after burned one year, the land after burned two months to the 0-20 cm decreased by 7,05 ppm and the 20-40 decreased by 5,1 ppm. Biological characteristic is earthworm, can not be found completely both in the burnt land and not burned. In general, the quality of after burn land one year and two months, and does not burn if classified with the Soil Quality Index that land quality is were medium (2.01-3).
