Abstract :
Spirulina platensis is a blue-green algae which contain substancethat are useful as an α-glucosidase inhibitor. This study aims to determine the potency of ethanol, ethyl acetate, and acetone extract of Spirulina platensis. The extraction method uses an assisted maceration of ultrasound assisted extraction (UAE). The rendement of Spirulina platensis extract obtained from ethanol, ethyl acetate, and acetone extract by 6.90, 1.93, and 2.13% respectively. The results of phytochemical screening of Spirulina platensis extract contain sucs as flavonoids, phenolic compounds, saponins, triterpenoids, and steroids. The results show that IC50 ethanol, ethyl acetate, and acetone extract of Spirulina platensis 31.369, 35.092, and 34.037 ppm respectively. Extracts of ethanol, ethyl acetate, and acetone have a strong activity compared to IC50 acarbose value of 126.50 ppm which is have lesser activity. Statistical analysis showed that the activity of α-glucosidase inhibitors of ethanol, ethyl acetate, and acetone extract do not differ significantly (P>0.05) from the root. Extracts of ethanol, ethyl acetate, and acetone Spirulina platensis have potential as an α-glucosidase inhibitor.
