Abstract :
The incidence of stunting in Indonesia currently is still a public health problem. The prevalence of stunting in South Sumatra Province in the year 2013 amounting to 36.7%. Stunting affect the growth and decline of intelligence failures on child, not only that stunting also affect on locomotor coordination, hand coordination, eye, hearing, speaking and performance. Stunting also increase the risk of obesity, because people who have short stature will get low ideal of weight. Stunting begins while the fetus still in the womb. The length of the body is born can reflect nutritional status for children inside the womb. This research aims to look at the influence of birth length with the incidence of stunting in children aged 12-24 months in working area of Boom Baru community health center. This research aims to look at the influence of birth length with the incidence of stunting in children aged 12-24 months in working area of Boom Baru community health center. This research uses cross sectional design. The research using primary and secondary data. The sample in this research is the mother who has children aged 12-24 months. Sampling method by using accidental sampling. Bivariat analysis of data with the chi-square test and multivariate with multiple logistic regression. The prevalence of stunting in children aged 12-24 months was 34.5%. Bivariat analysis results showed that the birth length associated with the incidence of stunting (p-value = 0.001). The results of the multivariate analysis showed that children with birth length ≤ 48 cm has the risk of 5.375 times to be stunted than children born with birth length of >48 cm (95% CI 2,139-13,504) after controlled variable gender the child, mother and breastfeeding history. Length of birth have a great influence of stunting incidence in children aged 12-24 months in working area of Boom Baru community health center Ilir Timur II Palembang after the controlled variables gender, mother and breastfeeding history.
