Abstract :
This research was conducted in Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya, from December 2014 to October 2015. The research objective was to determine the effect of water application volume on growth and yield of Kailan (Brassica oleracea var. albog-labra) by using substrate hydroponics system.
The method used in this research was Non-Factorial Randomized Block Design with two treatment factors and three replications was used in this study. Treatment levels was volume of water application of 30 ml, 34 ml, and 38 ml with six times watering for fifteen minutes per day. The observed parameters were efficiency of water application and yield of plants.
Result of this research showed that volume of water application treatment of 38 ml for six times application per day or equivalent to 228 ml per day (V3) gave the highest water application efficiency and yield of Kailan plant fresh weight of 82.94% and 64.56 grams, respectively. These values were significantly different than others treatments (V1 and V2).
