Abstract :
The objective of this research was to develop biosand water filter system by regulating pressure pump at various filter media arrangement based on decreasing and comparison of turbidity, color, pH, TSS, BOD, COD, oil and fat at each pump pressure . The method used was descriptive method, data presentation in form of tables. The process of research and tools design was done through various stages including planning and design of tools, tools preparation and materials, tools manufacturing and tools assembly, tools testing, observation, calculation, and laboratory analysis. Laboratory analysis was conducted at Palembang Environmental Health Ministry. The results showed that the biosand filtration device has been able to decrease Noman river water samples before and after screening based on the analysis values of turbidity, pH, BOD, COD, TSS, oil and fat. However, the screening results have not been able to test polluted water sample higher than the specified quality standard except for BOD value which was higher than the quality standard and and lower than the quality standard.
