Abstract :
Background: Elderly is the final stage of human life span, which is accompanied by aging in individuals. Elderly will experience a lot of decline in physical, mental, and social aspects. Independence is an ability or condition where an individual is able to take care of or overcome his own interests without being dependent on others. Factors that influence decreased independence (activity daily living) such as age, psychological functions (such as anxiety, sadness, and depression), physical condition, cognitive function. The reduced physical condition, physical activity, and anxiety will affect the level of independence or daily activities (activity daily living) in the elderly. Methods: This study is an analytical observational study conducted using cross sectional design study. Research subjects were 95 elderly people who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: Study participants comprised of 52 (54,7%) women and 43 (45,3%) men. Subjects aged 60-74 years dominated this study with 70,5%. Study participant comprised of 40 (42,1%) no anxiety, study participant comprised of 47 (49,5%) mild-moderate anxiety, while respondent with severe anxiety totaled 8 (8,4%). Obtained research subject with mild physical activity totaling 53 (55,8%) elderly. While the research subject with moderate physical activity totaling 42 (44,2%) elderly. Subject with mild independence dominated in this study 63 (66,3%). In this study the anxiety level variable has a significant correlation (p<0,05) with the level of independence. Physical activity variable have a significant correlation (p<0,05) with the level of independence. Conclusion: Correlation of anxiety level with level of independence (r = 0,297) while the correlation of physical activity with the level of independence (r = 0,292). The regression equation Y= 19,134 + 0,002 physical activity ? (0,046 anxiety). Where the level of anxiety and physical activity are variables that affect the level of independence. Thus, the two variables become predictors factor of the level independence. Keywords: Anxiety level, physical activity, level of independence.
