Abstract :
Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) polymers with the addition of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) additives prepared using the DC 15000 V electric field method. This research analyzed the effects of adding TiO2 and DC 15000V electric field methods such as membrane characteristics and mechanical properties and water treatment performance. PVDF @ TiO2 mixture membranes were characterized using SEM and AFM, evenly distributed pore sizes up to 2.040 ?m and decreased surface roughness with the addition of TiO2 and DC electric fields. Tensile testing was carried out to obtain the mechanical properties of the PVDF @ TiO2 mixture membrane which showed an increase in optimal tensile strength to 1.15 MPa at 20% Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF). As for the membrane permeability itself, a good flux value at the concentration of PVDF @ TiO2 10wt% is reaching the value of 239.4064048 L/m2.h greater than the membrane concentration of 15wt% and 20wt%. Making membranes with the addition of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2), and assisted by DC electric fields, opens up new ways to produce membranes with even pores, reducing surface roughness and increasing membrane strength.
