Abstract :
A membrane can generally be defined as a semipermiable thin layer that functions as a separator. The polymer used is Polyacrylonitrile. The solvents used are N, N-Dimethylformamide (DMF), and additives namely Silver Nitrate (AgNO_3) to bind coliform bacteria that are useful for water filtration. Membranes are prepared in 3 forms of comparison fractions with a composition (% by weight) of different PAN polymer material mixtures - each specimen is 10%, 12% and 15% with the addition of 1% AgNO3 additive. The process of dissolving Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) using N, N-Dimethylformamide with the addition of Silver Nitrate (AgNO3) by stirring using a magnetic stirrer, the three ingredients are stirred using a stirrer at a temperature below 40 ° C for approximately 8 hours until the PAN solution and AgNO3 are considered homogeneous The prepared membrane is then tested and data and results from this study are taken. From the results of the PAN @ AgNO3 mixture membrane showed the value of 0.427 MPa for a concentration of 10%, 0.435 MPa for a concentration of 12%, and for a concentration of 15% tensile strength that is 0.731 MPa. For microstructure observation using Scanning Electron Microscopy, the pore diameter shows a dense pore size of 12.24 ?m, 8,786 ?m and 5,544 ?m for 10%, 12% and 15% concentrations, respectively. For membrane permeability at 2 bar pressure using Clean Water Permeability, at a concentration of 10% 635.84 Lm-2.h-1, for a concentration of 12% 196.84 Lm-2.h-1 and for a concentration of 15% 55.28 Lm-2.h -1
