Abstract :
Polyethersulfone (PES) with the addition of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) additives was prepared using the DC 15000V electric field method. This study analyzes the effects of the addition of TiO2 and DC 15000V electric fields to determine the characteristics and mechanical properties of membranes and water treatment performance. Membranes were characterized using SEM and AFM, evenly distributed pore sizes up to 1,068 ?m and decreased surface roughness with the addition of TiO2 and DC electric fields. Tensile tests was done to obtain the mechanical properties of the PES @ TiO2 mixture membrane which showed an increase in optimal tensile strength to 3.86 MPa at 30% Polyethersulfone Polymers (PES). As for the membrane permeability itself, the good flux value at the PES Pure concentration is 25wt%, which is 1263.1 L / m2.h which is smaller than the PES @ TiO2 membrane concentration of 25wt% and 30wt%. Membranes fabrication with the addition of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2), and assisted by DC electric fields opens up new ways to produce membranes with even pores, reducing surface roughness and increasing membrane strength.
