Abstract :
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease which occurs because the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or the body cannot effectively use the insulin which it produces. (World Health Organization, 2016). There are four pillars of DM treatment, one of which is food diet restrictions for people with DM. The purpose of this study was to develop a nutritional need measurement tool for DM patients with Android-based, so it was expected to help patients in controlling blood sugar levels. This study used Research and Development (R&D) method. The result of this study was in the form of a measurement tool of nutritional needs in patients with diabetes which is based on Android. According to the results of this measurement tool, the average differences between manual calculation and Android calculation on caloric requirements were 0.124, carbohydrate 0.084, protein 0.038, and average fat difference 0.14. It is expected that DM patients are able to use this tool to meet nutritional needs and adhere to the diet program.
