Abstract :
Internet of Things (IoT) technology has a new technology, one of which is Long Range (LoRa), which is the process of changing a certain periodic wave that makes a signal that can bring an information. This design use Long Range (LoRa) communication which uses 2 protocols namely MQTT and Modbus protocols for comparison in determining parameters in this design result. On technology Long Range (LoRa) devices and this network uses the standard Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) with the parameters succesfull rate, latency, Spreading Factor & Power Transmit. The purpose of this design is to compare the quality of data delivery using the above 3 parameters for optimal data transmission, to minimize latency when sending data in the design system. The transmitter or END-device device is a device that has a sensor or data source required by the author for further investigation, in which case the data required is data on the position coordinates of the GPS (Global Positioning System) as well as the moisture level data and air temperature level taken from the sensor DHT22. For the receiver device itself is the device used as a Gateway for each data can be entered and processed in the Antares database. For the data transmission process itself uses the LoRa Communications Protocol (Long Range) with a frequency of 915MHz section of the transmitter and receiver. Meanwhile, for the process of sending data from the Gateway to the Antares Database used two testing methods i.e. the first MQTT communication protocol (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) which is used to support data transmission in IoT technology (Internet of Things) and both Modbus communication protocols that use cable as their data transmission medium.
