Abstract :
This study aims to determine the effect of the use of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on the ability to solve problems and student learning outcomes in the respiratory system material class XI SMA Negeri 4 Palembang. The research method used is Quasi Experimental with Nonequivalent Control Group Design research design. Determination of the research sample using Simple Random Sampling technique so that the class XI MIA 5 was chosen as the experimental class and XI MIA 6 as the control class. The study was conducted through virtual learning (Online) The instrument for learning outcomes in the form of multiple choice test questions was 15 questions and the instrument of problem-solving ability was in the form of 5-item description test questions. Both instruments were tested for validation and declared valid and reliable. Data on learning outcomes and problem solving skills were tested with ANCOVA through SPSS 25 software. The results showed that PBL learning models significantly affected learning outcomes (sig. 0,000) and problem-solving abilities (sig. 0,000). The average learning outcomes of experimental class students was higher (77.06) than in the control class (70.00). The average value of the ability to solve the problem of the experimental class was 73.87 while the control class was 62.90.
