Abstract :
Background: Head injury is the highest cause of death among productive age group. Epidural hematoma made massive bleeding that causes rapid deterioration. Surgery is needed for life saving management.Varied condition could affect the clinical outcome of surgery. Therefore, this study was conducted.
Methods: This study was an observational analytical with cross-sectional design using secondary data from medical records of epidural hematoma patients who underwent surgery in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang General Hospital during January-Desember 2019
Results: There were 30 patients who underwent surgery, 4 of them (13,3%) was dead, 93,3% patients age >60 years and all of them were dead (100%), 75% patients who had severe head injury were dead (p 0,012). Twenty-two patients had bleeding <30 ml and survived (p 0,03), patients who underwent surgery less than 6 hours had survived (100%, p 0,17).
Conclusion: There are significant correlation between age, GCS, and bleeding volume with patients?s clinical outcome, but time had no significant correlation.
