Abstract :
This study aims to determine the morphological changes that occur during the growth process of the reproductive organs of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) and the time required for the growth of the reproductive organs. The method used is descriptive method. From the observations, cotton plants experienced 3 growth phases in their reproductive organs, namely the flower bud phase, the blooming phase and the fruit phase. Time of development in the flower bud to blooming phase (22 days), the blooming phase (less than 6 hours), and the phase from the beginning of fruit emergence to open fruit (49 days). Time taken overall from bud to open fruit phase (71 days). The morphology of cotton flowers is a complete flower consisting of additional petals (epicalyx), petals, crowns, stamens and pistils. The flower buds are protected by additional petals which are triangular and green in color, the flower buds are light green to greenish white. Cotton flowers have a radial symmetrical pattern, when they bloom, they are white and when the petals close back, they are reddish purple. The cotton has a round and ovoid shape, light green to yellowish green when it opens.
