Abstract :
Physical changes are the major feature in the biological processes of puberty. The low knowledge of children about the physical changes of puberty they experience will lead to anxiety, fear, embarrassment, and confusion. One possible preventive measure is to teach them the physical changes occuring in puberty with the right methods and media, such as video. This study aims at determining the effect of video media on physical changes in puberty toward the knowledge and attitudes of pre-pubertal children. It is a quantitative study with a quasi experimental research design using one group pretest posttest design. Twenty respondents were chosen using nonprobability sampling method with purposive sampling technique.. The results of the Marginal homogeneity test of the knowledge variable show the obtained p value = 0.000 and the McNemar test for the attitude variable show obtained p value = 0.002. These mean that there was a difference between the knowledge and attitudes of prepubertal children before and after being given education about the physical changes of puberty using the media. In conclution, the education was effective in increasing the knowledge and attitudes of prepubertal children since they were more interested in the display of image of the video that information from which was more easlily accepted. Health officers and teachers are expected to provide education related to physical changes during puberty to prepubertal children, as well as for parents to always provide education to children in terms of increasing children's knowledge regarding physical changes of puberty.
