Abstract :
Tomato is a complementary vegetable for Indonesian society that is widely consumed by households in Indonesia. Related to food safety issues, tomatoes can be said to be a type of vegetable that has the opportunity to contain pesticide residues that exceed the maximum residue limit (BMR) because the fruit is sprayed directly with pesticides during the planting process. The purpose of this study was to analyze the presence of pesticide residues in the organophosphate class and the factors causing the residues of tomato plantations in Dempo Selatan District, Pagar Alam City. This study used a cross-sectional study design with a simple random sampling (SRS) technique of 53 farmer respondents from 4 tomato gardens. The data analysis for the residue test used Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectroscopy (GCMS) with the chromatographic separator method. Then it was carried out univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test and fisher exact alternative test. The results showed that 3 tomato gardens were safe for organophosphate (75%) and 1 tomato garden was unsafe (25%). The bivariate results showed pesticide dose (p-value 0,000), number of pesticide types (p-value 0.001), p-value spraying time (p-value 0.022), spraying frequency (p-value 0.323), and spraying distance (p-value 0.118). It can be concluded that there is a relationship between pesticide doses, the number of types of pesticides, and the time of spraying with pesticide residues, then there is no relationship between the frequency of spraying and the distance of spraying with pesticide residues in the organophosphate class in Dempo Selatan District, Pagar Alam City. Therefore, it is hoped that the Agriculture Office of Pagar Alam City will be able to provide more education to farmers.
