Abstract :
Background : Breast cancer is an important public healt problem, because it has a high mortality and morbidity rate. In Indonesia, the higest cancer suffered by women is breast cancer with incidence rates 26 per 100,000 women. Purpose : To determine the incidence rates of breast cancer in department of surgery sub division oncology at Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period 1 january - 31 december 2011. Method : A descriptive study based on medical record data from Mohammad Hoesin Hospital period 1 january - 31 december 2011. The data presented in the form of frequently tables and percentage with narration. Result: From the existing data, totally of patients suffering from breast cancer in department of surgery sub division oncology at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital period 1 january - 31 december 2011 is 606 patients. Based on age, the most patients suffered from breast cancer are aged 43 - 48 years. Incidence rates of breast cancer period 1 january - 31 december 2011 was 81,3%. Conclusion : Incidence rates of breast cancer in department ofsurgery sub division oncology at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital periode 1 janury - 31 desember 2011 was 81,3%. Therefore, its important to give health education and early inspection to decrease mortality and morbidity rate for women.
