Abstract :
Medium alloy steel with unique machining capabilities and good hardness in a large cross-sectional area. Carbon steel is easy to make, has high strength, is easy to get on the market because of its use is very large and wide, in the manufacture of good machine components there must be a relationship between the mechanical properties required with manufacturing to be done. Often there are errors such as production results that are not in accordance with planning (design), requested when making components that cause difficulties supporting data needed to get results in accordance with planning (design). From the results of tests that have been carried out in this study indicate the mechanical properties of 705 assab steel material. In each specimen a test is conducted which aims to study the hardness, tensile strength and also performed with protective microstructure or morphology of 705 assab steel during heat treatment with austenisation heat of 850 ℃ using SAE 15W-50 cooling medium with austempering 320 ℃ at time variations of 30, 60 and 90 minutes.
