Abstract :
This research aims to determine the difference in student achievement of mathematics learning that was taught using SAVI approach and deductive approach. This type of research is a comparative. The population of this research are all grade VII SMPK St. Yoseph Naikoten 2 Kupang, and the sample are all students from class VII A as the first group given the learning by using SAVI approach and all the students from class VII C as the second group which is given the learning by using deductive approach. Hypothesis testing method used is independent sample t-test (t-test). The result of this research with ? = 0,05 indicate that achievement score of mathematics learning achievement of student after given treatment is higher than before being given treatment by using SAVI approach because tcount ? ttable value that is tcount = 8,638 and ttable = 2,007, but the result also show That there is no significant difference in achievement score of student's learning achievement between before and after given treatment by using deductive approach because value -t?/2 < tcount < ttable that is tcount = 1,863 and t?/2 = 2,007. Result from this research also Shows that the mathematics learning achievement of students who are taught using SAVI approach is better than the students' learning achievement which is taught using deductive approach, because tcount ? ttable that is tcount = 3,609 and ttable = 2,007
