This study is focused on the students’ vocabulary acquisition using word games in which the writer has chosen from noun of animals. The respondents of this study were 20 students. The student’s level of vocabulary in the pre test was below average (58.85 %) while the post test was above (98.15%). The average improvement was 39.3 points or 66.77% of average scores improvement. The pre test was given before they have been taught trough word games and the post test was given when they applying and taught the students using word games. In teaching vocabulary without the technique or games especially word games, the students had low motivation in the classroom action research interaction, but in playing word games (fill in the blanks, animals in hiding and animals crazy quilt), the students were so active and enjoyed in class interaction and had higher motivation in learning English especially in vocabulary. Based on the result of the study, the writer would like to propose some suggestions as follow: (1) The English teacher of the researched school should pay attention to students’ needs and characteristics by giving them some new techniques to make them easier to learn English. (2) The English teacher should be more serious in helping the students to develop their skill in English especially about vocabulary. (3) Word games technique (as; animals in hiding, animals’ crazy quilt, fill in the blanks and so all of another word games) can be an alternative to overcome student’s boredom in learning English (especially vocabulary learning).
