Abstract :
This study is based on the main issue , namely whether there are differences in mathematics achievement of students who were taught using the model of generative learning with conventional learning on the subject of sub arithmetic operations in the algebra class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kupang 2014/2015 school year. The purpose of this study was to determine whether differences in mathematics achievement artifacts students taught using generative learning model with conventional learning on the subject of sub arithmetic operations in the algebra class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kupang 2014/2015 school year . This type of research is a quantitative study using an experimental method . The population in this experiment was around the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Kupang which consists of 12 classes . And a sample of this is eighth grade students who were taught using the K generative learning model with the number of students and 27 eighth grade students who were taught using the L conventional learning the number of 27 students. The necessary data is value - the value of both classes preest and posttest samples. After the data collected prerequisite test and test hypotheses on the pretest to see whether the second data sample was the same or not . After the prerequisite test and test hypotheses, the average - average mathematics achievement classes taught using the generative learning model is 76.85 and the average - average mathematics achievement classes taught using conventional teaching is 52.22. SPSS analysis results , obtained t_hitung in Table Independent Samples T Test at 9.545 and significant value of 0.000 < 0.05 . From the results of manual calculations , t_hitung = 9.376 > t_tabel = 2.007 , then reject H_0 . Which means there are differences of learning achievement of students who are taught math using generative learning model with conventional learning on the subject of sub arithmetic operations in the algebra class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kupang 2014/2015 school year. Based on the analysis , the authors suggest that teachers of mathematics can apply the model of generative learning, especially in sub- subject of the algebra of arithmetic operations.
