Abstract :
Learning mathematics in Junior High School South 1Amanuban less effective this is because the learning process is still menggunnakan conventional learning. Teachers recorded material, then assigns students work, so that researchers interested in conducting research differences in student achievement are taught using learning model 5 E learning cycle with conventional learning on eighth grade students basic sub surface area and volume of prisms and limas. Problems in this study ie: is there a difference in student achievement that is taught using learning model 5 E learning cycle with conventional learning on eighth grade students basic sub surface area and volume of prisms and pyramids in SMP Negeri 1 Amanuban south in teaching 2013/2014. This study aims to determine: the differences of learning achievement of students who are taught using learning model 5 E learning cycle with conventional learning on eighth grade students basic sub surface area and volume of prisms and pyramids in SMP Negeri 1 Amanuban south in Teaching 2013/2014. This research is experimental research, the population in this study is the second semester of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 South Amanuban that are divided into six classes. The design used in this study "Randomized Control Group Pretest and Posttest Design" which puts the subject penalitian in two groups with the experimental class category and class control, by using Simple Random Sampling means (random) to elect the members of the group (class). In the experimental class learning model treated with 5 E learning cycle and grade control with conventional learning. The results showed that there were differences in learning achievement of students taught using learning model 5 E learning cycle with conventional learning on eighth grade students basic sub surface area and volume of prisms and pyramids. This is evident from the similarity value of the average student before being given treatment that table = 2.012896> t = 0,484. The average value after a given treatment that table = 2.012896
