Abstract :
This research analyzes the use of politeness phenomenon or politeness strategy in SMK Nahdlatul ?Ulama Nusantara North Alassumur-Besuk Kabupaten Probolinggo. SMK Nahdlatul ?Ulama Nusantara in North Alassumur-Besuk Kabupaten Probolinggo is one of formal unique school in a term of language communication where most of the teachers and the students communicate each other use non-standard language namely; Madurese Language and blend language (pidgin language in a technical term of Sociolinguistics) between Indonesian Language and Madurese Language in a school area of that school even in the classroom while have a teaching and learning process of Indonesian Language or outside the classroom considering that formal school in Indonesia uses Indonesian Language generally in teaching and learning process of Indonesian Language at the classroom especially. This research uses Pragmatics study or theory by Yule (1996) related to this research. One that is learned in Pragmatics is about politeness focuses on politeness in a language that has some types of strategy namely; Positive and negative politeness strategy, self and others: saying nothing politeness strategy and saying something: bald on and off record politeness strategy. This research uses Qualitative Description Analysis Method by theory of Sudaryanto (2001) and uses Miles and Huberman?s theory (1984) for collecting or searching and analyzing the data. This research uses observation method for collecting the data with non-participant observation because participant that is used in this research is a passive participant. There are 170 data of politeness strategy found and used by the teacher in SMK Nahdlatul ?Ulama Nusantara North Alassumur-Besuk Kabupaten Probolinggo with 4 types of it namely; positive and negative politeness strategy and saying something: off and on record politeness strategy. Positive politeness is the most dominant politeness strategy that is used by the teacher with total 107 (62.95%) percentage, the second dominant politeness strategy used by the teacher is saying something: on record strategy with total 30 (17.64%) percentage, than the third dominant politeness strategy used by the teacher is negative politeness with total 28 (16.47%) percentage and the last is saying something: off record strategy becomes the most politeness strategy that is rarely used by the teacher than the other strategies with total 5 (3.94%) percentage.
