Abstract :
The purpose of this research was to find out the correlation between students’ learning style and their listening skill. This research was conducted at the University of Pasir Pengaraian on 20-21 May 2017 and the sample who involved in this research was the sixth semester students of English Study Program. There were 28 statements put in the questionnaire for measuring students’ learning style which was categorized into 3 types of learning style such as visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Meanwhile to measure the students’ listening skill, the researcher gave 50 questions in form of listening test. Based on the score of the test in listening test, the researcher found that the highest score was 90 and it could be classified in the excellent level and the lowest score was 44 or it could be classified in the very poor level. Meanwhile the average score for listening test was 68,8 or it could be classified in the fair level. Based on the calculation using SPSS application program, the score of learning style and listening skill, the researcher found that the value of rxy was 0,791. Then, the researcher compared the value of rxy with the index of correlation table where it could be concluded that the value of rxy that had been found indicates that there was sufficient correlation between variables learning style and listening skill. Thus, conclusion of the research showed that there was a sufficient correlation between the learning style and listening skill to the sixth semester students of English Study Program at University of Pasir Pengaraian.
